Bulgaria becomes the 21st member of the euro area. The decision has been confirmed by the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the Council of the EU. From 1 January 2026, the official currency will be the euro, with the conversion rate set at 1 € = 1.95583 BGN (Forbes.sk, 2025).
New opportunities for investors
The introduction of the euro is an important signal for foreign buyers. It means greater currency stability, simplified payments and price predictability. Based on experience from other euro area countries, a slow rise in house prices can also be expected.
Why decide to buy before the introduction of the euro?-
Current bargains – Bulgaria is still one of the most affordable seaside destinations in Europe.
-
Growing interest in real estate – stable currency and membership of the Eurozone will attract more investors.
